LIP FILLERS

Russian lips for naturally plump and defined results without the trout pout

Lip Fillers are becoming increasingly common, and today are one of the most sought-after procedures in many cosmetic clinics around the world. As we age, our lips lose their volume so even those lucky enough to be born with beautiful lips, may want to consider enhancing their lips appearance. Around the mouth, wrinkles, the loss of volume and downturned corners create a tired, aged appearance.

At Empire Beauty Clinic our lip filler treatment aims to effectively reverse these changes, enhancing your lips with more volume and giving a much more youthful and healthier look to your mouth

At Empire Clinic, we believe that the fundamental basis for a successful aesthetic procedure is an in-depth consultation with a skilled qualified practitioner to assess your needs and develop a bespoke personal treatment plan so that you achieve outstanding natural looking results.

HOW IT WORKS

Lip filler treatments use hyaluronic acid based dermal fillers, expertly injected into the lip to add volume, minimise lines and asymmetries .Hyaluronic acid which is a substance that naturally exists in your body. It binds water and it’s important for the transport of nutrients and in regulating water balance in skin. This stabilized gel provides an easy, natural looking way to enhance and rejuvenate the appearance of your lips. The result of a single treatment can be seen instantly and results are long-lasting but not permanent.

TREATMENT STEP BY STEP

Here is some essential information about the treatment and what to expect before, during and after your visit vith us.

STEP 1

CONSULTATION

At Empire Clinic, nothing is more important to us than your health, safety and wellbeing. During your initial consultation, we discuss in depth what your wants and needs are and make a plan on how we can achieve that for you. We also talk through your medical history to make sure there aren't any potential contraindications. If you have any qualms or questions of your own, this appointment provides a great opportunity to ask away.

STEP 2

DURING YOUR TREATMENT

Just before the actual treatment, the area will be cleaned, then disinfected. We may use a surgical pen to mark your skin so the filler can be injected with precision. You may be given a topical anaesthetic to numb the area prior to injection. Many filler products also contain lidocaine, a mild anaesthetic, which is intended to help minimize discomfort during and after your treatment. The aesthetic nurse will then make several injections into your lips, adding filler gradually with a multitude of techniques, until the agreed size and shape is achieved.

STEP 3

AFTER YOUR TREATMENT

Results are immediate after receiving filler injections. Your lips will be beautifully shaped but may look bigger temporarily. They will get back to that perfect size once swelling subsides in the next few days. Some patients experience some bruising that may take a few days to clear following treatment. Aftercare instructions and an products will be provided to you. You will be able to go back to your normal activities right after treatment, but your cosmetic nurse may ask you to not drink alcohol, take blood thinning meds and abstain from strenuous activities for a few days.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long do Lip Fillers last for?

Dermal Fillers injected into the lips will usually last between 6-12 months before it is gradually absorbed by the body. Further treatments are usually required to maintain the effect, otherwise the lips will return to their previous appearance.

How long does a Lip Filler treatment take?

The treatment session usually takes around 40-60 minutes.

Are there any after-care instructions?

After your treatment you can resume normal activities, drive yourself home or return to work immediately. There will be some redness, swelling and possible bruising immediately after treatment and a few days after. Expect a bit of soreness or tenderness which can last for several days. Your aesthetic nurse will provide you with written aftercare advice and and an aftercare bag with products that will help the healing process.

How much Lip Filler will i need?

It doesn’t take much filler to make your lips plumper. The average treatment will require just 1 ml of filler to achieve the desired effects, so you are unlikely to need more than one syringe of dermal filler. If you are looking to achieve a more dramatic look and think you may need more than 1ml, we will always build up the volume gradually, during  subsequent appointments, so to achieve natural looking results and avoid the dreaded overfilled ”sausage lips”.

How do I prepare for Lip Fillers?

Do not consume alcohol at least one day before your treatment. Do not take any aspirin, ibuprofen or blood thinners for 1 week prior to filler. Avoid fish oil, Vitamin E, garlic and gingko biloba for 1 week prior to filler. Eat lots of leafy greens the week before to boost your levels of Vitamin K. Apply Arnica and vitamin K Cream to areas to be treated for several days before injection.

Will the injections hurt?

Many people find their procedure more comfortable than expected. We apply a numbing cream to the area prior to injecting and most dermal fillers contain a local anaesthetic. If you have a low pain threshold then we advise purchasing a numbing cream from your chemist. Apply a very thick layer of cream to your lips and cover with some cling film, 60min before your appointment. The increased contact time should provide added comfort during treatment.

Are there any side effects to Lip Fillers?

The obvious immediate side effect is of slight bleeding after the needle has been inserted into the lip. Other risks include mild bruising, redness and swelling that may also occur around the site of injection. These signs may take 3 – 7 days to vanish completely, especially around the lips where there is little flesh and the skin is tender. Rarely, allergic type reactions can occur after treatment with some filler. These include prolonged redness, swelling, itching and or hardness and bumps. Such signs may appear at some or all of the points of injection. Sometimes, they can last for several months or longer, but this is extremely unusual. If you have a history of cold sores in the treated area, filler injections may cause them to break out again. In these cases, your practitioner may recommend that you take an anti-viral medicine to help reduce the likelihood of an outbreak of cold sores. If you are concerned about side effects of Lip Fillers, you can discuss this in more detail at your private consultation.
